ESL: BVA > xTp!
2006/02/21 00:43:55
Was pretty pleased with this win today vs xTp in the playoff stage of the ESL UT2004 TDM Wintercup, so I thought I'd report it here. And I doubt any admins are gonna write it up as news since BVA isn't scandi... (bleeeeeeh :p)

Be Very Afraid Lineup:
[BVA]asczZ
[BVA]CodFather
[BVA]csm
[BVA]Surfa

X-Treme Psychos Lineup:
xTp!baz
xTp!inSi
xTp!robbe
xTp!sosi

Funnily enough after some confusion both teams had chosen Corrugation prior to the game itself. So, first map obviously being... yes thats right, Corrugation, we got underway...

The map started pretty evenly, Cod got a really nice start owning up the other side of the map with Surfa. I (csm) was stuck down below for the majority of the game which meant asc had a tough time trying to fight off two xTp players at the LG area. With about 5 minutes left we started to slacken off a bit, we did well at amp but xTp took far more 100 shields than us and started to pull away.

Final score [100:123] to xTp

Being 1 map down, the pressure was on us to make some changes if we were to keep ourselves in the game and actually win Corrugation. We placed more emphasis on the LG area and claiming more 100 shields. asc changed his game, playing much better this map and laying claim to alot of 100 shields. After several minutes we had developed a 20 frag lead and managed to keep it until the end, putting us back in the game at 1-1.

Final score [119:101] to BVA

After the usual elimination crap the final map was to be Goose. Not our strongest map, but not exactly bad for us we were reasonably happy with the result of the elimination. On the other hand, we have no idea how good xTp are on Goose so didn't know what to expect. We lost the 100s on first spawn but managed to grab the amp and get in position to build on a small lead. With the scores at 22-16 in favour of BVA, sosi suddenly disconnected with computer problems. We waited for a long time for sosi to return, but just as xTp were about to forfeit the map he returned and we were go again! xTp seemed pretty disorientated after the disruption and we were able to maintain our control to build a convincing lead to the end.

Final score [113:73] to BVA

Was very happy with the result of this game, I know we have a very strong team but xTp being, well... xTp... it wasn't a match I'd have put money on us winning. Anyway, we did, so next on the agenda in the semi finals of the ESL playoffs is the german team 4star.
